After the cheeky little gnome comment last week, a friend of mine sent me this bottle of beer in the mail. Considering that I wrapped up my submission to the CBC Short Story competition, perhaps a celebration is in order. It doesn’t hurt that Leonard Cohen has a new album out this weekend, Douglas Coupland has a new non-fiction collection, and Manchester United squares off against Chelsea.

I think my plans are set.

(BTW, if you’ve yet to finish your own short story for the CBC contest, don’t worry – the deadline isn’t until the end of the month. If you need some inspiration, Writer’s Edit has some good suggestions.)
